About the Role
Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Global Media & Communications Manager to help strengthen the organization’s international visibility and positioning across global and specialist media.
This role combines strategic communication planning with hands-on media engagement. You will translate complex humanitarian and development topics into compelling narratives and strategically position them in international media.
You will also contribute to building the structures, relationships, and communication processes that enable Welthungerhilfe to act as a credible and influential voice in international debates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an integrated international communications strategy for priority stakeholders.
- Identify media opportunities and pitch high-quality content to global and specialist media outlets.
- Draft, refine, and place op-eds and commentary pieces in collaboration with senior leadership and technical experts.
- Build and maintain relationships with international editors and journalists.
- Create and manage an international press distribution list and media monitoring system.
- Lead editorial planning for the international website.
- Produce long-form articles, interviews, and expert explainers for international audiences.
- Coordinate cross-team communication on priority topics and messaging.
- Design and facilitate workshops and internal communication alignment processes.
- Use agile project management approaches to manage communication workflows.
- Leverage AI tools responsibly for research, transcription, analysis, and workflow efficiency.

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field preferred.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in international communications.
- Experience working with international editors and journalists.
- Strong writing, research, and content development skills.
- Experience managing communication or cross-organizational projects.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and navigate complex organizational environments.
- Strategic mindset combined with strong operational execution skills.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) at native speaker level.
- German language proficiency is a strong advantage.
