About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our distributed team at SoftwareMind. This is a full-time remote position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to meaningful infrastructure and systems engineering projects for global clients.
As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust Linux-based infrastructure solutions. Your expertise will drive system reliability, performance optimization, and security across our technology stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy scalable Linux infrastructure solutions
- Manage and monitor system performance, availability, and security
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement preventive measures
- Automate routine administrative tasks and system processes
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployments
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
- Conduct security audits and implement hardening procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical system support
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in Linux administration (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions)
- Strong experience with system architecture and infrastructure design
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Understanding of networking protocols and TCP/IP stack
- Proven experience with monitoring and logging solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities in English
