Building infrastructure for autonomous, intelligent agents represents a new frontier in software engineering. As an early Software Engineer at MAI, you won't simply write code—you'll architect the entire ecosystem where our AI agents operate and scale. You'll have profound impact across our entire technical stack, from foundational data platforms to core agentic frameworks to scalable serving systems.

You'll join a small, focused team of fewer than ten engineers where individual contribution directly shapes company direction. We're building three core teams:

• AI Platform & Foundation

What You'll Do

• Build the Agent's Operating System: Design and build our core agentic platform—the engine orchestrating complex workflows, enabling long-term memory, integrating human feedback loops, and continuously improving autonomous agents.
• Engineer the Data Engine: Architect foundational data and signal platforms using modern lake house architecture. Build robust pipelines and ML serving systems that feed intelligence to our agents at scale.
• Create Scalable Infrastructure: Develop systems powering agent deployment, monitoring, and optimization across millions of customer interactions.
• Collaborate on AI Innovation: Work with product and AI teams to translate research into production-grade systems that deliver measurable customer value.

You're a Great Fit If You Have

• Strong backend engineering foundation with experience building scalable systems
• Familiarity with machine learning pipelines, data engineering, or ML infrastructure
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Passion for AI and autonomous systems
• Ability to own projects end-to-end with minimal guidance
• Commitment to code quality, testing, and maintainability
• Enthusiasm for learning rapidly in high-impact, early-stage environment

Nice to have: Experience with LLMs, agentic frameworks, workflow orchestration, or adtech/martech platforms.
