About the Role
We are scaling rapidly, with a vision to serve 10 million farm families by 2030. This growth relies heavily on strategic fundraising, particularly through high-value grant writing for bilateral and multilateral donors.
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer & Project Manager to join our Public Fundraising Team, leading critical proposals and reports while acting as a strategic deputy within the team. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in international development, agriculture, and donor-funded project management.
Key Responsibilities
High-Stakes Technical Writing & Strategy
- Lead Grant Development: Write and manage 2+ high-value deliverables per month, with at least 50% proposals for bilateral and multilateral donors.
- Strategic Framing: Ensure all content highlights farmer perspectives, aligns with donor priorities, and communicates complex data in clear, persuasive prose.
- Technical Accuracy: Maintain deep knowledge of One Acre Fund’s operating model, impact metrics, and scaling strategy.
Project Management & Stakeholder Coordination
- End-to-End Ownership: Manage grant writing projects from research and bid/no-bid analysis to final submission.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with field operations, finance teams, and donor representatives to integrate accurate data.
- Process Optimization: Implement grant checklists and tools to ensure efficiency and high-quality output.
Leadership Support & Portfolio Analytics
- Strategic Deputizing: Support team leadership with high-priority projects, donor logistics, and external consultancies.
- Data Stewardship: Maintain accurate, real-time funding trackers and portfolio analytics.
- Mentorship & People Management: Guide 1–2 junior staff members, providing coaching and professional growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5–7+ years professional experience, including 3+ years in high-stakes grant writing or technical proposal development.
- International Development & Agriculture Focus: Experience in social enterprises or NGOs, with proven ability to navigate complex institutional bureaucracies and data-heavy reporting.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex ideas into simple, clear narratives, both written and verbal.
- Fundraising Knowledge: Prior experience in grant management, donor relations, or European public donors preferred.
- Passion for Impact: Demonstrated interest in international development or agricultural empowerment, particularly for smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Language: Fluency in English required.
