Operating across seven Sub-Saharan African countries, we partner with governments, organizations, and communities to provide child-directed, tablet-based learning solutions through the onebillion application. Our evidence-based approach has been validated through nine Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) demonstrating dramatic learning gains, increased school attendance, and gender parity—all for less than $7 per child per year.
About the Role
The Development Insights & Data Manager serves as the central point person for the development team, responsible for retrieving, interpreting, organizing, and communicating program and organizational data. This strategic position sits at the intersection of fundraising, impact measurement, and knowledge management, coordinating closely with research, finance, and country offices to provide development, communications teams, and external audiences with accurate, compelling impact metrics and financial indicators.
You will transform complex data and qualitative insights into meaningful, donor-friendly narratives. A successful candidate combines strong data literacy, excellent communication skills for non-technical audiences, and proven project coordination abilities. This role requires a detail-oriented, analytical professional who navigates quantitative and qualitative information with ease, coordinates effectively with global teams, and maintains structured systems for data accuracy and knowledge-sharing.
Key Responsibilities
Data Retrieval & Metrics Management
- Serve as primary liaison between development team and research, country, and program teams to secure impact indicators, KPIs, and performance data
- Maintain updated repository of organizational metrics in learning gains, climate benefits, and livelihoods for proposals, reports, donor materials, and external communications
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across country programs and reporting cycles
Financial Indicators & Reporting
- Collaborate with finance team to retrieve and analyze high-level financial data including cost-per-student, efficiency metrics, and budget trends
- Support development communications with financial narratives for donor proposals and impact reports
Knowledge Management & Systems
- Establish and maintain structured data systems for organizational knowledge-sharing
- Create dashboards and reporting frameworks for tracking key performance indicators
- Develop clear documentation and processes for data workflows across teams
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with global teams to collect, verify, and organize data from multiple sources
- Present complex data findings to non-specialist audiences in compelling formats
- Support proposal development with relevant metrics and impact evidence
This position reports to the Executive Head of Development and Communications.
